INSPECTIONS & PERMITS
Fire Safety Inspections
All commercial properties are inspected to ensure compliance with fire safety regulations and codes. Inspections are conducted by on-duty shift personnel throughout the year.
Questions regarding fire safety inspections should be directed to Lake Villa Fire Prevention Bureau at (224) 444-8222, Monday through Friday between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Fire Department Plan Review
The Lake Villa Fire Protection District conducts plan review on all new construction, renovations/additions, and modifications to buildings and fire protection systems. Such reviews include, but are not limited to, life safety, fire alarm, sprinkler, and kitchen hood wet chemical systems. The District utilizes 3rd party review through Fire Safety Consultants, Inc., but will also conduct some reviews in-house as well. Contractors are required to consult the fire prevention bureau regarding submission requirements for each project utilizing the plan review submission form.

Fire Alarm Systems
Lake Villa Fire Protection District is the authority having jurisdiction for the issuance of fire alarm permits and acceptance testing and inspection of Fire Alarm Systems.
RESOURCES FOR BUSINESSES
The Lake Villa Fire Protection District uses the Knox Rapid Access System to gain entry into a building if necessary.
Location of all Knox Boxes shall be coordinated with the Lake Villa Fire Prevention Bureau. When installation is made outside of your building, please call (224) 44-8222 and a member of the Lake Villa Fire Department will come out to place your keys (which must be labeled using key label discs) in the box while you are present.
Knox Boxes and Knox equipment can be ordered though KNOXBOX.COM or an order form can be picked up from the fire bureau at 910 East Grand Ave., Lake Villa, IL. 60046.

The Lake Villa Fire Protection District has very limited stock of residential door hanger Knox Boxes. These boxes can be requested by the resident for a period of 60 days with a refundable deposit. Such boxes are typically used when an individual is experiencing health issues that may inhibit their ability to open the door in case of an emergency.
